Time to fess up. Does your home ever smell, well, not so fresh? Or maybe you simply long for your home to have a signature scent? Regardless of your motivation, it is super easy and - even better - super inexpensive to add scents to your home using items you already have lying around the house. No more relying on artificial scents to create a mood in your home; we much prefer going au natural.

Wanna see (or smell) what we’re talking about? Take a whiff of the options simmering below:

  • Extra-large double-caff latte with an extra shot not enough to make you feel perky? Place whole beans in decorative vases or bowls to wake up your nose.
  • Dried flowers, like lavender, are sooo versatile. We tie them in bouquets to hang in our closets, and make sachets out of fabric scraps and place them strategically throughout our house. You can also scatter them on the floor before vacuuming to make cleaning a little more relaxing.
  • Pomanders (citrus fruits with cloves) are so easy to make and last forever. The added bonus is that with a little ribbon, they are decorative enough for us to display around the house - a sensory double-threat!
  • Want a quick fix? We love the fabulous look (and smell!) of cloves in a pretty dish
  • We turn a simple spray bottle into a scent-distribution mechanism by filling it with water and a few drops of our favorite essential oils. The fine mist infuses the air with delightful scents that last.
  • And easiest of all - let the outside in. We open up our windows - even for just a few minutes - and revel in the signature scent of nature.
